Going About It All Wrong

My approach to finding which merchants to go with was haphazard at best. Searching through the merchants on Commission Junction, Linkshare, and Google was just too inefficient (I use that word a lot). So what did I do? I did what any self-respecting engineer would do; I made a spreadsheet. After 5 1/2 years of engineering curriculum, diving into a spreadsheet is almost instinctual. I built the spreadsheet by listing the things that I wanted to promote specifically. Then I went through the networks and noted the products each sells, the commission as well as which network the merchant was with. This was the only way I could keep things organized and not lose myself in the volume of information I had to sift through. Subsequently, putting in the affiliate links will take a little longer than expected. If you are going to do something, do it right. Right?

The affiliate marketing website is so close to being ready for the public that it's hard to sit still. It's hard to believe that only two months ago I couldn't even code html and now I have a website that is close to 50 pages total. Incredible.

Real estate. I've decided that I am going to spin-off a real estate blog in the coming weeks. My objective is to have a duplex to move into by the end of my 7-month lease at the apartment. The first step will be finding a loan.....

On a side note, go check out Road to Forbes. The blog is geared toward those of us who are determined to have more than what the average person is willing to accept. It's written by JScott who has provided me with valuable information about business in the past. The blog is raw, confrontational, and unapologetic. I like it. It definitely gets the coveted JonnyQ "Good Stuff" rating.
