Journey to $300/Day - Day 6

On Friday I made the decision to focus on list building for my efforts toward $300/day. I knew all along that it is what I should be doing...

I just didn't want to do it=)

Thankfully, I already have some autoresponders set up in some high power niches so it is just a matter of getting the traffic (as always). I will be testing a number of different traffic methods to make this happen - all paid. Non-paid traffic takes too long and I have a deadline.

This weekend I didn't get as much accomplished as I had hoped. I was able to retool some optin pages. I was also able to add an iframe to my landing page rotation for a couple of CPA offers. I was making conversions until I put in my own landing pages. I'm going to see if my landing pages are the problem. At least I will see if they are the problem until I get the optin pages up for those niches.

That's that. Sales from my main market have been incredibly slow for the past 2 or 3 weeks. I'm not sure what the deal is but hopefully the drought ends soon. I did have a random CPA conversion on something that I would NEVER have tested. However, I'm throwing pickiness out the window. I will test anything and everything now as long as I don't have any moral objections to the offer.

Journey to $300/Day - Day 4 Recap

...Internal conflict.

Do I build lists from day one (more like Day 5 now) or do I go all out, bull-in-a-china-shop style and charge toward my $300/day goal as quickly as possible?

I knew the answer until I talked to Roger yesterday. Now I'm not so sure.

All of my experience tells me to make a list but doing so is not fast. It's not immediately profitable. It's time and labor intensive.

These are all strikes that make it seem as though it will hold me back from my goal. However, I would get "multiple bites at the apple" to make conversions and would be able to promote things on the back end. Plus, it may be easier to get people to join my list as opposed to getting them to fill out a CPA offer form.

These are the questions. I make my decision today (Day 5) and I stick with that course of action. I can't allow indecisiveness to slow me down.

Journey to $300/Day - Day 3

Another night of work...

I launched 10 campaigns tonight and also sent out a broadcast this morning for my my main product. Some of the 10 campaigns were ones that I had on a different network. I wanted to test them out else where and see how things go.

While doing so, I noticed a possible issue. The first few landing pages I created are pretty boring and weak. The ones that I've made in the last few days are MUCH better. This may explain the sudden revenue drought. I've taken all of my campaigns that made conversions and made landing pages for them. If the landing pages are bad, then it won't matter how well the offer page performs.

I will have to look into this to see it there may be an issue. I may have to start including an iframe of the offer in my landing page rotation to see if the new landing pages are the problem.

I still didn't get as much accomplished as I wanted to but considering how work and home life have been lately, I may be able to cut myself some slack...

...Nah=)

Journey to $300/Day - Day 2

They really like to beat me up at work...

It took me nearly 2 hours to wind down and get settled after work today. Unfortunately, that translated into another day of not moving nearly as far as I'd like. I was able to finish 2 landing pages for the CPA offer that has converted the most for me. I was also able to launch a new test campaign and test a new offer on an old campaign.

That was about it. I was accepted to a private affiliate network but that is about the sum of it all.

Journey to $300/Day - Day 1.5

Night of October 25, 2010.

I came home and found that I had a few more CPA conversions - a couple repeats from some campaigns that had already converted and two from new campaigns. While it may not have been the best route to choose, I created 2 new landing pages for the campaign that had the newest conversion. The only reason I did this is because it has a much higher payout.

I tried to make an LP for the next campaign that had the most conversions so far but ran out of steam by 10PM. I spent a couple hours cooking so that took a toll on my productivity.

Tonight, I will create the landing pages I intended to last night.

I will also talk to my VA about her progress with my powerpoint slides. The videos I'm doing for my relationship product are Camtasia/Powerpoint videos. The two aspects that take me the longest are creating the Powerpoints and editing the video. So, I'm trying to get my VA to do the Powerpoints to free more time for myself. Her first shot was OK but it's taking her a long time. Hopefully we can work things out so that she gets faster at it. She already missed last week's deadline so now I'm a week behind in my video posting.

Anyway, all in all last night was a good night. I didn't get as much accomplished as I would have liked but the Business generated income from nearly every network. It wasn't much but it's definitely a good start!

Journey to $300/Day - Day 1

October 25, 2010

I woke up angry this morning...

Not really but there have been mornings where I have woken up angry - and it's happening more and more often.

I'm tired of the way things are going. I'm apart from my girlfriend while she's at law school. I HATE my job. My duplex sucks and is killing my finances, slowly and methodically. My faithful and reliable Ford Contour is going on 13 years old and the age is starting to show. My business seems to keep hitting roadblocks.

In essense, I'm not too happy about how things are right now.

I'm a firm believer that in order to have the right to complain about something, you have to first be DOING something about it.

Don't complain about being fat if you don't go to the gym.

So here is what I'm doing... I'm going to make an average of $300 profit/day by December 31, 2010.

Bold - I know but...

Fortune favors the bold so that is the only way that I can go.

Going all out is the only thing that is going to turn things around for me.

So, before you can get to where you're going, you need to know where you are currently.

Here is the assessment of The Business.

Market #1 - This is my main site that currently has 3 Clickbank products.
Last month was an awesome month for this market. I don't have the numbers in front of me right now but it was the best month in a year or two.

What's made the difference? I emailed my list more and I achieved #3 and #5 rankings for big keywords.

I went from emailing my list maybe twice per week (and not every week) on top of my autoresponder sequence to mailing them 3 times per week (every week, without fail) on top of the autoresponder sequence. That alone took me from regularly having $0 income days from this site to regularly hitting $100+ gross days.

Where to go with this market: I'll continue to hit the list with 3 broadcasts per week. I need to do more testing to increase my opt-ins from organic traffic. I will also shift the site over to Wordpress to take advantage of it's awesome benefits. I will also create video salesletters for the two remaining products.

The video salesletter for the first product took it's conversion rate from sub-0.5% to 2%+.

Finally, I will continue the SEO work that helped generate the rankings.

I believe that this market can pull $50+ profit/day.

Market #2 - This is my second big site. It's in the relationship market and I do have a product here that converts well. Problem is that I'm having trouble generating traffic.

Knowing how big other people's Clickbank products are in this niche, I know that this one can pull $100+ profit/day. I just need the traffic.

Where to go with this market: I need affiliates. I'll also continue to post 4 videos per week on YouTube. I will also make a more concerted effort to use paid traffic such as media buying rather than simply using PPC.

Market #3 - This isn't really a market but a return to an old area of the Business - CPA offers. I like CPA offers, always have. I've just been dissuaded from doing them since running into the cashflow issues back at the end of '08 and throughout '09.

Things are different this time. I've learned A LOT from my last serious attempt at CPA offers. From past experience, I know that CPA offers are the fastest method of income that I've been able to get working. I just need to be sure to avoid the cashflow problems I had last time (caused mostly by Yahoo's crazy payment system) and need to test landing pages relentlessly after finding a campaign that converts.

Last week, I launched 37 CPA campaigns. So far, 4 of those have converted. Over the weekend, I created landing pages for 3 of those offers. The landing page for the 4th is coming tonight. Now that I have 4 campaigns to focus on, I need to drive ridiculous amounts of traffic to each one.

Where to go with this area: I have to keep launching test campaigns and be very diligent in testing landing pages. I need to be ruthless in killing campaigns that don't convert within 2-3x the payout. I also need to find a good designer who can pump out landing pages quickly and at a good price.

CPA offers are going to be the biggest source of income to bring me to $300/day by year's end. It doesn't take much as far as the number of converting campaigns go. However, it does take a lot of testing to find the campaigns that actually bring in the money.

Finally, I need to keep myself accountable. This means posting about my progress on this journey. This should be interesting to say the least.
